Decorations
- Vinyl footprints leading from the front door to the party room. This is the highest-return five minutes of setup in any theme.
- A sand or crushed-Oreo 'dig pit' in a shallow tub, with buried figures. It is decoration and activity at once.
- Green and brown crepe streamers layered unevenly read as jungle. Even spacing kills the effect.
- Skip inflatable dinosaurs — they photograph badly and dominate the room. Cluster small figures on the table instead.
Food
- A dig cake: chocolate cake, crushed biscuit 'soil', plastic dinosaurs half-buried on top. Effort is low, reaction is high.
- 'Dino eggs' — any speckled chocolate egg in a nest of shredded coconut dyed green.
- Cut sandwiches with a dinosaur cookie cutter. Children eat far more of a sandwich shaped like a stegosaurus.
- Green punch. It does not need to taste of anything in particular.
Games
- Fossil dig — bury figures in sand or rice, hand out brushes, let them excavate. Reliably the longest-running activity of the party.
- Dinosaur egg race, balancing a plastic egg on a spoon. The egg is also the favour.
- Pin the tail on the dinosaur. It works for the same reason it always has.
- 'Freeze like a fossil' when the music stops — the T-rex version of musical statues.
Favours
- The excavated figure they dug up. They are already attached to it and it costs you nothing extra.
- A small magnifying glass turns the whole party into a palaeontologist framing.
- Dinosaur stickers or temporary tattoos — cheap, and applied before they leave, so they go home worn rather than lost.
- A paper 'excavation certificate' with each child's name is remembered longer than anything plastic.

What makes the difference
- Use two greens and one warm accent (clay orange or mustard). Dinosaur parties go muddy when everything is the same green.
